While the building dates back to the 1860's, Stone's Tavern was formally founded by Mollie Reisman after prohibition ended around 1934. It is said that a speakeasy operated in the building during prohibition.
The large back bar that decorates the front dining room dates back to the 1850's and was recovered from a saloon that existed east of Stone's.
